Voters in the Hillsdale School District in Ashland County rejected by more than 500 votes a combined two-year, 7.9-mill property tax levy amd a 1.25-percent earned-income levy. Three Hillsdale students formed a Student Levy Committee to try to get support for the levies and say their hearts are broken. The girls say they believe the heart of the district is what will be hurt the most. The Hillsdale Schools are anticipating a deficit in fiscal year 2013 between $700-and-800-thousand dollars. The district was placed on fiscal caution in June by the Ohio Department of Education. |
