Voters said "yes" Tuesday to the 2-mill renewal plus 1.9-mill additional levy for the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library.

Director Joe Palmer saids the $6 million this levy will generate in each of the next ten years will keep services at current levels.

"Our whole premise is we want to continue the way we are without more cuts. We're still counting on state money so that's one thing that everybody has to be aware of. We didn't discount state money we didn't try to make up for state money we're going to lose in the future," Palmer said.

"We just know that the trend is going to be that we're losing state money and we've lost about 35 percent of our state money since 2001. So what we do is we save every year. We don't spend everything that comes in. We saved for buildings and equipment," Palmer said.

The library levy passed with 52-percent of the vote.
