The Mansfield City School District will have to figure out how to do more with less.

Voters turned down the district's five-year, 9.9 mill renewal levy.  But it was close, losing by around 400 votes.

Supt. Dan Freund is disappointed with the defeat.

"We'll be getting with the board this month to talk about where we go from here and it is a devastating loss for the district. We'll look to see how it affects out kids," Freund said.

The levy was approved by voters in 2007 and generates $5 million annually for the operation of the schools.
