The Ashland University Eagles took care of business and took care of business early on Saturday afternoon at Jack Miller Stadium/Fred Martinelli Field, in wrapping up the school's first undefeated season in 40 years with a resounding 65-0 win over Notre Dame College of Ohio.  The Eagles jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and pretty much had the issue settled by halftime leading 48-0.

Ashland U. was led on the ground by Jordan McCune who ran for 178 yards on just 12 carries with one touchdown.  Jason White-Reid was next in line with 111 yards with one touchdown on 11 carries.  Anthony Taylor rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries and scored four times.  Through the air, Taylor Housewright threw for 192 yards on 16 of 23 passing with three touchdowns, two of them going to Logan Slavinski, the other to fullback Steve Nagy.

In total yards, Ashland rolled up a whopping 635 yards of offense on 83 plays compared to just 157 yards on 52 plays for NDC.  For the AU defense it was their third shutout of the season holding the Falcon's Pedro Powell, who came into Saturday's game with over 1,400 yards rushing, to just 35.  Cody Bloom, Tyler Houska and Jeremy Rives all had five tackes each, while the Eagles Jacob Lerman picked off two Falcon passes.

The win puts AU at 11-0 on the season.  Now the Eagles wait for the winner of the Chadron State (9-2) vs West Texas A&M (9-2) contest which will be played on November 17th at West Texas.  Ashland will play the winner at Jack Miller Stadium/Fred Martinelli Field on Saturday, November 24th.  Right now kickoff is set for 11am.  This is also the fifith time in school history AU has advanced to the post season the other four were 1986, 1997, 2007 and 2008.  Of note, for head coach Lee Owens, this was the third team he has coached to an undefeated regular season in his career.  Crestview in 1982 (10-0), Galion in 1985 (14-0, D-II state champs) and the 2012 Ashland University Eagles.
