From ballet to tap to jazz and hip-hop, dancers at the Lexington Academy of Dance were cutting a rug for a good cause on Saturday. Lexington Academy of Dance Studio Owner Sharon Troha says the youngsters were taking part in their first-ever Dancers Fighting Cancer event, a benefit to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. 10-year-old Ruby Tracy came up with the idea of staging the benefit dance-a-thon because her father is battling cancer. Troha has 45 years of experience in dance training and her studio offers dancers the chance to improve self esteem, self confidence, coordination, and strength. |
