Workforce development was the subject of a meeting Thursday morning involving about seventy members of the Richland Community Development Group, at the North-Central State College's Kehoe Center in Shelby. R.C.D.G Executive Director Bridget McDaniel says the officials representing business, education, social service agencies, economic development, and local government discussed the need to prepare people for the working world, starting in childhood. Another topic was the need to train adult workers for the jobs that are available, but going unfilled. Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services Director Joe Trolian told the gathering many employers are trying to hire people, only to find they're abusing drugs and need treatment before they're suitable for a job. |
