The Ashland Salvation Army went away from its usual breakfast in kicking off its annual Red Kettle Campaign this past weekend. Instead, the Kroc Corps Community Center in Ashland was the site for the first ever Jingle All the Way 5K walk and run which will benefit the local Citadel. Matt and Melanie Miller served as the emcees for the kickoff event and were joined by the Salvation Army's Capt. Jessica DeMichael. They emphasized to those in attendance that money generated from the Red Kettle Campaign stays in the community. This year's goal is to raise $60,000. The Ashland Salvation Army's New Adventures Band provided musical entertainment for the more than 100 runners who participated in the event. The Red Kettle Campaign runs through Dec. 24. |
