Mansfield City Council is revisiting the issue of speed cameras.
  

During its caucus session Tuesday night, council heard a proposal for a one vehicle-mounted camera that would allow a police officer to give an administrative citation to violators.

 Mansfield police Sgt. Todd Newberry told council there is a camera vendor that has offered to provide the city free of charge a patrol car and high speed camera for 30 days.
 

Newberry said the city can a have a contract with the vendor if it likes the system under a revenue sharing agreement.

Mayor Tim Theaker said the cruiser will allow law enforcement to address the issue of speeding without putting other motorists or themselves at risk. 

Legislation for the proposal will be go to council for its first reading.
