Hundreds Attend 31st Annual Light Up Lexington Celebration

The Village of Lexington kicked off its 31st year of the celebration Light Up Lexington Monday evening on the Square. 

Mayor Eugene Parkison said more than 800 people gathered in the square for the annual event which officially kicks off Lexington's Bicentennial Celebration that takes place in 2013. 

"It's a good time and shows alot of community support," Parkison said.

Mayor Parkison read a proclamation in observance of the celebration.
 

Lexington Fire and Ice and the Lexington Symphonic Band also performed.

Miss Lexington Brittany Abrams attended the celebration and the winners for the poster contest were announced.

The celebration concluded with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
  

Donuts were provided by Key Bank and hot chocolate was supplied by Lexington Kiwanis.
