The slim possibility of winning half-a-billion dollars in Wednesday night's Powerball lottery drawing had Mansfield area residents snapping-up tickets. But they're thinking of others, not just themselves. Art Owens and Stephen Rolle of Mansfield bought their tickets at MotoMart at West Fourth Street and Trimble Road, and said they would help their families and have no big plans for themselves. At Big Daddy's Drive-Thru on West Fourth, Erin Underwood of Lexington said she would pay off her bills and her family's, maybe keep a million dollars for herself, and give the rest to charity. Several merchants said Powerball sales have been steady though not overwhelming with a jackpot this large. Enjoy your champagne and caviar dreams but keep in mind the chances of them coming true are on in $175 million. |
