Friday night starts off a new boy's basketball season at Pete Henry Gym as the Mansfield Tygers play host to an old foe in the Spartans of Lima Senior.  The Tygers do return with experience in Mario Davison, Donovyn Benson, Robert Jones, Malon Samuel and Keon Johnson.  Johnson begins his senior season just 78 points shy of 1,000 in his career.

The Tygers are coming off an OCC co-championship with Lexington after finishing last season at 18-4, 11-3 in conference.  Lima Senior had one of their toughest seasons in memory going just 3-17 last season including an 87-60 loss to the Tygers at Lima.  The Spartans do have some size in 6'8" in junior post player Justice Graham.   After the Lima Senior game on Friday, the Tygers will have a short night as on Saturday they will travel to Toledo Scott to face the Bulldogs.  The Tygers were winners a season ago 75-59 at Pete Henry.  The opening double weekend is the first of nine doubles Mansfield will play this season.
