Gunshots were fired Monday afternoon outside of the Kroger supermarket on Park Avenue West in Mansfield. Police say it started when one woman assaulted another over past problems between the two. A man with a concealed carry permit approached, apparently to defend the victim, and exchanged words with the woman who assaulted the other. That woman got into her car and drove at the man, prompting him to fire four gunshots, one of which hit the trunk of her car. The woman drove to the parking lot of the former Aldi store on West Fourth Street, where she called police. The man who fired the shots is charged with Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits. That's a misdemeanor, but county prosecutors will consider felony charges. |
