The Ashland Board of Education is moving forward with the financial plans and design for the construction of a new elementary school, middle school and new auditorium at the high school. The board Monday night approved two resolutions for the project following the passage of a 3.7-mill bond issue in November. The second resolution provides for the issuance and sale of $10 million of notes, in anticipation of the issuance of bonds, for the purpose of constructing, adding to, renovating, remodeling, furnishing, equipping and improving school district buildings and facilities. "After meeting with the bond counsel we had to move quickly to hire a financial advisor to set us up as a district and for us to save taxpayers $1.6 million through interest rates throughout the life of the bond issue," Supt. Dr. Doug Marrah said. The board will meet Dec. 10 for a work session and again on Dec. 17 for a regular meeting. |
