The Richland County Commissioners signed the paperwork Tuesday for the District 5 Area Agency on Aging to take out a $3-million loan in tax-exempt bonds.

The former Hawkins Market building at Lexington-Springmill Road and Park Avenue West in Ontario was donated to house the Agency on Aging and five other organizations that serve senior citizens.

The low-interest loan will be paid back over twenty years with the rent paid by the five agencies.

Renovations should be completed, and Hawkins Corner ready to occupy, by the end of April.
