A Mansfield man is behind bars in the Summit County Jail after being charged with raping a 12-year-old girl.

Corey A. Welch was arrested on Nov.  28 when officers responded to a Springfield Township home for a rape complaint.

According to the police report, the victim called 911 after waking up naked and feeling as though she had been drugged.  She stated the suspect was a family friend who was staying with them and may have taken pictures of the assault with his cell phone.

Officers and detectives responded to the scene and found evidence that supported the victim's claims.

Welch was arrested and charged for rape, with other charges pending.
