North Central State College and Ohio State University Mansfield are preparing to unveil a new Campus Framework Plan.

North Central State College Board of Trustees met Wednesday to discuss the plan designed to address the needs for renovation of existing buildings, construction of new facilities and the need for student housing.

NCSC President Don Plotts said the plan will be rolled out after the Christmas holiday.

"We're going to be talking about this framework plan with the community, with faculty and with staff," Plotts said.

"The importance of the Framework Plan is bringing the community closer to the campus, having more public and private partnerships and being able to create an atmosphere on this campus that is condusive for students to come here for higher education and graduate from here," Plotts said.

In other business, the board of trustees also talked about Gov. John Kasich's Higher Education Funding allocation plan for colleges.

Under the plan, colleges and public universities would be rewarded for recruiting, and graduating at-risk students, non-traditional students and graduating students keeping them in Ohio.

Also student academic credits would be transferred from community colleges to four-year institutions and those community colleges would receive partial credit when the students graduate from another institution.

The funding formula was developed by the Ohio High Education Funding Commission consisting of a group of university and college presidents, headed by Ohio State University president Gordon Gee and Zane State College President Paul Brown .

The board of trustees went into executive session to discuss the Presidential Search Committee Report.

Plotts said four candidates have been interviewed. He said the candidates visited the campus and participated in open forums with the community and media.

He said the search committee is in the process of narrowing down the selection.
