A wanted man has now been arrested, while a Richland County probation officer is on paid leave, after the officer fired gunshots at the man Wednesday afternoon. The incident happened on State Street off of South Main Street in Mansfield, when probation officers Chris Washington and Darren Miller approached 28-year-old Andre Collier to arrest him on a warrant for failing to report for prison for drug trafficking. Richland County Adult Court Services Director David Leitenberger says Collier got into a car, and clearly tried to run down Washington as he fled. Washington fired shots at Collier, which Leitenberger says was completely justified. The car was found abandoned, with unspecified disabling damage. It is in Mansfield Police custody and being inspected. The Richland County Division of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has since found Collier.
