A man is in custody after Richland Bank's main branch was robbed Thursday in downtown Mansfield.

The robbery took place just after noon, when a man entered the bank sporting a gray hoodie and red hat.  The suspect handed the teller a note demanding money and then left on foot.

Richland Bank President John Brown says the teller handled herself well, the employees followed proper procedures and everyone in the bank was unharmed.

"Fortunately, our teller followed all the procedures, had the proper training, and got the guy in and out of here quickly," Brown said. "The money is secondary, as long as our people are safe, which they are, that's the most important thing."

Mansfield resident Amanda Grady was leaving Chase bank when she saw the suspect run down an alley, and toward the library.

"He ran through the alley and toward the library and when I saw the Richland (bank) staff run out, I said 'I think I know what just happened,' but I'm not going to try and stop the guy," Grady said. "I don't know if he's armed or what."

Police are investigating whether the suspect is responsible for the Mechanics Bank robbery on November 23rd.
