A bank robbery suspect pleaded "not guilty" Monday morning during his arraignment in Mansfield Municipal Court. 29-year-old Jeremiah Conrad is charged with two counts each of Aggravated Robbery and Robbery in the Black Friday hold-up of Mechanics Bank and the December sixth heist at Richland Bank, both in downtown Mansfield. Magistrate Philip Naumoff set bond at $75,000 for each case, and ordered Conrad to also post a personal recognizance bond, be placed on electronic monitoring, and to have no contact with either bank. Conrad was found at his home shortly after the second robbery, and police say he confessed to both. The next step is for his case to be bound-over to the Richland County Grand Jury for consideration of a formal indictment. The F-B-I declined to pursue federal charges because Conrad did not display a weapon. If convicted of two state charges of Aggravated Robbery, Conrad faces up to 22 years in prison. |
