Ashland University senior quarterback Taylor Housewright has been named to the 2012 American Football Coaches Association Division II All-American football team.

The AFCA Division II All-American team is made up of just 22 players, there is no second or third team. Housewright is the 13th player in the programs history, which dates to 1920, to be named All-American. The last was AU quaterback Billy Cundiff in 2008 and prior to that Eagle center Vince Cashdollar in '07.

This past season Housewright threw for 3,071 yards on 241 completions with 32 touchdown passes and just four interceptions in helping the Eagles to an 11-1 record, the playoffs and the school's first ever GLIAC football championship.

In his career at AU (2009-'12), Housewright threw for 7,259 yards on 570 of 887, with 71 touchdown passes and 16 interceptions. He is second all-time at Ashland in career pass attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdowns to Cundiff (2006-'09) 646-1001, 9,143 yards, 79 TD passes.
