MedCentral Health System's Pastoral Care Department is helping people who've recently lost someone special deal with the grief during the holidays.

The department hosted a discussion "Getting through the Holidays,"  Monday evening in the Mansfield Hospital chapel featuring guest speaker psychologist Dr. Paul Robinson.

Staff chaplain Rev. Chris Mason said the program was offered during the Community Grief Support Group meeting that is open to the public and meets the second Monday of each month in the Mansfield Hospital chapel at 7 p.m.

"The holidays can be a difficult time of year for people especially those that have just lost loved ones over the past year," Rev. Mason said.

"So many people don't understand what other people are going through or the suffering. Even after a period of time some people feel they should be better but the holidays can bring back a lot of memories that rekindle the grief," Rev. Mason said.

The Pastoral Care Department also leads other support groups including Concerned Friends, a support group for parents who have lost a child, the Suicide Support Group and Cancer Support Group.

For more information contact department director Rev. Faith Proietti at 419-526-8472.
