The Mansfield Tyger boys basketball team has started the season at 3-0 after wins over Lima Senior, Toledo Scott and last Friday over crosstown rival Madison 76-27.  On last week's lopsided win over the Rams, Tyger coach Johntory Reese was happy with some of the things he saw Friday, but still says this is not as good as they can play.  The coach stated his team still needs to eliminate turnovers and play better defense.

This Friday, the Tygers travel down to Bellville to face the 2-1 Clear Fork Colts.  Reese mentioned the Tygers will have to keep an eye on two of the better guards in the OCC in Keith Durbin and Ridge Winand, both lefthanded.  After Friday's game Mansfield Senior returns home to face the 1-2 Sandusky Blue Streaks.  Of note, Tyger senior point guard Keon Johnson needs just 24 points to reach 1,000 in his career.  Odds are he will reach the milestone this weekend, if he does he will become the first Senior High basketball player to do so since Marquis Sykes during the 1998-'99 season.  Sykes is now a varsity assistant and Tyger boys JV coach.
