Since June, investigators have been trying to stop a suspected arsonist, possibly responsible for 49 fires.

Despite the efforts of the Mansfield Police and Fire Department's as well as the State Fire Marshal's Office, firefighters continue to battle suspicious fires.

Around  7 p.m. Thursday, two fires broke out in the city.  One, at 59 S. Foster St. in Mansfield, the other, a garage at 219 E. Second St. This is the second time the vacant home on South Foster Street had been set on fire.

Fire Chief John Harsch said, yet again both fires seem to have been set by someone.

"We had a month, over a month block, between the last one on November 3," Harsch said. "We're not sure what's going on, but we are interested in finding out."

Harsch said they are following all leads and people have been interviewed, however, they are no where close to charging anyone with the arsons.

No one was injured in Thursday's fires, but Harsch warns this situation is dangerous not only for the firefighters, but for the entire city.

Harsch said it's important to get the arsonist charged and off the street.

Contact the Mansfield Fire Department or the police department if you have any information on the fires.
