Residents of the Richland County assisted living center Dayspring got a special holiday treat Friday. Twenty-three students from Sherman Elementary School and six from Newman Elementary in Mansfield came for a ninety-minute visit. The students are all members of their schools' Third Grade Leadership Teams. Visit organizer Doc Stumbo says they sang Christmas carols to the residents, handed-out gifts, played games, and had potato chips and pop. Dayspring Director Bill Cunning says having the children come to visit is a great joy for the residents, who feel a little lonely during the holidays. Elementary school students are also brought to Dayspring for Valentine's Day and Easter, bringing cheer to those who enjoy every extra smile they can get. |
