The Mansfield Senior Tygers won the combined team event over Shelby at Malabar pool Thursday evening. The Lady Tygers won 99 to 68 points while the Whippets took the boys portion of the competition, 84 to 70. Coach Frank Bartholow, in his 56th year, showed concern by the lack of boys on his team this year, even though they broke three school records last season. Hutch Blackstone is the new record holder in all three of those events. He won the 50 yard freestyle last night in a time of 23.21, despite fighting a virus. Also coming up big were two sprinters who were asked to go the distance yesterday by their coaches. The Whippets Cameron Stone, nephew of legendary swimmer and coach, Melisa Stone-Watters, won the 200 yard IM with a personal best of 2:20.34. Danni Boddy of Mansfield Senior also stepped up in the 200 yard freestyle, winning in a time of 2:28.53
