A dead body was found Monday afternoon in Mansfield.

The man was found sitting against a fence with a rope around his neck behind the former Pizza Hut restaurant on Ashland Road at Sixth Avenue. 

Captain Marijan Grogoza of the Mansfield Police Major Crimes Bureau says they do not know who the man is, but have suspicions.

Richland County Coroner, Dr. Stewart Ryckman, says the man's death appears to be a suicide by hanging.

The body was taken to the Summit County Coroner's office in Akron for an autopsy to confirm the man's identity and cause of death.
