The Richland County Commissioners plan to make it through 2013 without the quarter-percent sales tax increase they instituted for the last six months of last year. The commissioners say the new year will bring more financial challenges, such as the two-million dollar drop in investment income. But the economy is improving, the unemployment rate has dropped nearly in half, and retail sales are growing. So they have no plans to reinstate the sales tax increase. |
