Things looked great for Ontario through the first quarter of Saturday's game at Lexington, jumping out to a 20-0 lead and seemingliy on the way to their eigth win. But a Minutemen ralley sucked the life out of the Warriors in the second, leaving Ontario with a difficult 58-50 loss to cope with.

But for the first time since November the Warriors will have an entire week to prepare for just one opponent and get over their midseason hangover. For the entire month of December Ontario played double-weekends and even squeezed in a Tuesday night game. This week the squad can focus all of their attention on a Saturday showdown with North Central Black Division foe Galion and players and coaches agree it's a nice change of pace.

Senior forward Mitchell Phelps says prepping for one team instead of two this weekend has allowed the team to converge more on their own schemes which will help them perfect their offensive and defensive strategies. Head coach Joe Balogh agrees, saying that it's given his team more time to reflect on their flaws and allowed for a better opportunity to correct them.

Despite the tough loss to Lexington last Saturday, Ontario is still a respectable 7-3 on the season and remains perfect in the league at 3-0. Senior shooting guard and captain Blake Balogh believes they can stay flawless in the conference.

"We have to keep our confidence up and get a win against Galion." Balogh says. "Make sure we stay undefeated in the league and show everyone that we're the best team here."

Phelps concurs with Balogh's conviction and believes the team can stay unblemished in the NCC well beyond their matchup with the Tigers.

"Looking at our schedule that we have coming up, it looks like we shouldn't lose any more games." Phelps says with a condition. "If we play Ontario basketball and do the best that we can."

Coach Balogh also has high confidence in his team and says he told his team as much after the loss to the Minutemen. Balogh says some adjustments need to be made for this team to reach its max potential, but they've continued to improve on a daily basis.

"I think we're going to be a really good basketball team but we've got to continue to work at it." Balogh says. "We've got to make some corrections of mistakes and we've just got to try to get better and I think we do that every day at practice."

The Warriors and Tigers (2-4, 1-1) will meet at Galion High School Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m. Audio from the game will be streamed live on WMFD.com. It can also be seen on WOHZ TV Sunday evening at 9 p.m. and again Monday at 7 p.m. or you can follow the action on Twitter with live updates from @BrianSkowronski.
