Major Dale Fortney Receives High Boy Scout Honor

    Richland County Sheriff's Major Dale Fortney received the Boy Scouts of America Wood Badge award during a ceremony Thursday evening.
 
  Fortney, a member of Troop 586 in Ashland, received the highest rank in training, after completing a two weekend scouting course.

  During the ceremony, a certificate, a small tan neckerchief, a leather slide and two small wooden beads on a leather throng is presented. Fortney received the honor in front of his family and friends.
