A Madison school bus driver was cited for failure to control after his vehicle collided with a car Monday afternoon at 3:45 at the intersection of Mansfield-Washington and Hull Roads. The Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the 1994 Oshkosh S-Line school bus was carrying seven elementary-aged children at the time of the accident. The bus driver, James K. Adams, 53, of Mansfield, was traveling east on Hull Road approaching the intersection of Mansfield-Washington Road. The bus slid on loose gravel and was not able to stop from entering the intersection. Troopers said the driver of the 2002 PT Cruiser, Lewis A. Workman, 63, of Mansfield, saw the bus coming and attempted to stop to avoid hitting the bus. The bus made a left turn onto Mansfield-Washington Road and hit the front of the car. Adams and the students were not injured in the accident. The students were transferred to another bus and taken home after the accident. Workman was transported to MedCentral Mansfield Hospital by the Madison Township EMS, after complaining of head pain. Two passengers in Workman's car were not injured. The car was towed by Terry's Towing due to extensive damage, the bus was able to be driven from the scene. Richland County Sheriff's deputies and Madison Township Fire and EMS assisted troopers at the scene. |
