The Mansfield Tygers now have first place to themselves in the OCC boys basketball race for now anyway as they get ready for two this weekend, both in conference.  Last Friday, the Tygers ran past West Holmes 81-49, scoring 31 fourth quarter points.  The Knights did play the game without one of the OCC's best in Brady Arnold who missed the game due to an ankle injury and the Tygers took advantage.  Donovyn Benson and Robert Jones both dropped 21 points on West Holmes with Keon Johnson getting 18, Mario Davison 15.

Coach Johntory Reese was happy with his team's intensity and defense which forced 26 turnovers.  He also likes the progression of his team since the start of the season, especially considering their schedule.  The Tygers will look to hang on to first place and look to win their third and fourth in a row as they travel to 1-7 Orrville Friday, then head to 8-3 Lexington on Saturday evening.  The Minutemen head into the weekend in second place a game back of Mansfield Senior at 3-1 in conference.  Both Lex and Senior High shared the OCC last season with each team winning on it's home floor.
