A Shelby man is behind bars in the Richland County Jail after troopers seized around 40 grams of heroin during a traffic stop Sunday morning.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped 41-year-old Shawn Schiffer to investigate a warrant violation on State Route 13 northbound around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Schiffer was arrested on an outstanding warrant.  A search incident to arrest revealed 225 balloons of suspected heroin worth nearly $6,000 dollars.

Schiffer is being held in the Richland County Jail and charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin, a first-degree felony. If convicted he faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 dollar fine.
