The December 19, stabbing death of a Lexington graduate at the University of Toledo has been ruled a homicide. However, school officials are urging students and parents to understand that does not mean a murder took place. According to UT Chief of Police Jeff Newton, Josiah Galat, 20, was found stabbed to death on campus, while Erik Littleton, 19, was found outside the dorm suffering from serious injuries. On Tuesday, the university held a town hall meeting to reassure the safety of the campus. UT Senior Director of University Communications, Jon Strunk, says the forum "allowed students to ask questions about the incident and the safety of the university." According to the UT police report another man was found on the scene that day. Alexander Vogel, 18, of Toledo, was reportedly found naked and agitated when police arrived. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the dispute is not being released at this time. Toxicology reports will answer that question. The police report also state a "hunting knife" was found on the scene, although it's not determined who it belonged to. Littleton has since been released from the hospital. The investigation continues. |
