The United Way of Richland County is inching closer to meeting its $1.6-million campaign goal after benefitting from two local institutions of higher learning.

The Ohio State University-Mansfield and North Central State College on Monday afternoon completed their employee United Way campaign and presented United Way of Richland County Executive Director Bob Maxey with a combined check for $14,815 as the compilation of gifts from the employees of both institutions.

Both institutions shared North Central State College Chief Public Affairs Officer Betty Preston during the campaign and credited her for her work.

They hope the partnership will allow both schools to generate more dollars for United Way in the future.

The United Way of Richland County funds 25 agencies which operate 75 social service programs.
