You probably couldn't wipe the smile off Michelle Boylan's face today, if you tried.

The general manager of McDonald's on Stewart Road in Mansfield was presented the company's prestigious Ray Kroc award during a surprise ceremony Tuesday afternoon. The annual performance-based award recognizes the top one percent of McDonald's restaurant managers in the country.

Boylan was surprised and thankful to be recognized for her hard work and dedication.

"I've been trying so hard," Boylan said. "Last year, I got the store manager of the year award. So, I've always strived to be the best, that's why this is so important to me."

McDonald's owner and operator, Jeff Monica, said after Boylan came back from maternity leave three years ago she had a mission, to be the best manager she could be and to receive the Ray Kroc award.

"She has physically changed the store atmosphere, crew turnover, her service, everything," Monica said. "She has 100-percent done a great job at this store."

"She cares about her customers and crew," Monica said. "That's what I need in a manager. She's one of the best possible."

Boylan received a McDonald's ring, flowers, a cake reception as well as stock options in the company and will be recognized at a large banquet in the coming year.

Monica says he's got some of the best people in all of Richland County working for him.

Another manager of his in the Appleseed Shopping Center received the award seven years ago.
