Shelby City Council is in the process of working on the city's budget for 2013.

The budget was among other issues that were discussed at council's regular meeting Tuesday night. 

Mayor Marilyn John said the city is doing well financially and city officials are working together on the budget. 

"Financially the city is holding steady. We have weathered this past recession and we're still making cuts where necessary. We're grateful to the residents for their support through tax dollars," Mayor John said. 

 In other business, council authorized Mayor John to apply for the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshall's  2013 Fire Department Equipment Grant.

The city would use the grant money to purchase EMT jackets.
