Two students at Sherman Elementary School in Mansfield are heroes to their classmates and the community. Seven-year-old first-grader Zachary, and nine-year-old third-grader Jacob McGuire were given Meritorius Public Service awards by Police Chief Dino Sgambellone, during an assembly at the start of the school day Friday morning. They found a loaded gun partially wrapped in newspaper while walking in an alley on McPherson Street last August, and notified an adult who called police. Zachary and Jacob were with six-year-old Sidiki Sissoko, a first-grader at Foundation Academy. He received the same award Thursday. |
