The Heart of Ohio Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Johnny Appleseed Trail Distict, held its annual Klondike Derby this past weekend at the Richland Rural Life Center in Mansfield.

Galion Boy Scout Troop 304 Scoutmaster Alan Allwine says it's a wintertime event of 15 stations set up where participants must test their Scoutcraft skills and leadership abilities, earning points toward a total score.

Two-hundred scouts from 14 different area troops took part in the Klondike Derby.

The top three point earners at each station earn a plaque and all of the scouts are treated to a cookout at the event.
