The Ashland County Board of Elections plans to utilize electronic poll books when Hillsdale School District voters cast ballots in the Feb. 5 special election.

Hillsdale hopes to pass a combination levy of a two-year 7.9-mill fixed dollar property tax and a five-year 1.25 percent earned income tax.

The Board of Elections will have three electronic poll books available at polling locations and paper records will also be on hand as a precautionary measure in case of any technological issues.

The E-6 ExpressPoll electronic poll books are designed to improve voting by speeding up and simplifying the process.
