Chamber Honors Individuals Who Impacted The Community

The Richland Area Chamber of Commerce held its 114th Annual dinner and meeting Thursday evening at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites in Mansfield.
  

Board chairman Don Plotts said several awards were presented this year including the Extraordinary Leadership Awards and the Chairman Award 2012.
 

Chan Stevens was presented the 2013 Chairman's Award for his work with the Rehab Center

Plotts said Stevens, a board member at The Rehab Center, has chaired three capital campaigns. He said Stevens has contributed to the community through his efforts helping to raise more than $3.6 million for the Rehab Center through capital campaigns.

Plotts presented five Extraordinary Leadership awards during the event.

Plotts said the 179th Airlift Wing was honored for receiving the Spatz Award as America's most outstanding flying unit in the Air National Guard.

Jeff Gorman and Gayle Forman Freeman were recognized for working with the community to save the 179th Airlift Wing.

Shelby Mayor Marilyn John and city of Shelby project manager Joe Gies for flood mitigation efforts to help Shelby.

Plotts said Mansfield City Schools superintendent Dan Freund and Lowell Smith for the positive improvements with the district including educational and financial progress.

Grant Milliron was also honored for his outstanding work on the levy campaign for new operating funds for the Shelby City Schools.

The chamber also recognized the small businesses for their achievements. Small Business of the Year Awards went to My Town Partners in the Entrepreneurial Category: Doc's "Soup Herb" Deli in the Female/Minority Category: Crawford Drainage Company in the Manufacturing/Industrial Category and What's 4 Dessert in the Service/Retail Category.
