Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland debuted it's new $2.4-million dollar addition Sunday, during a grand opening service. The addition began in May of 2012 after two years of planning. Now, the facility's new sanctuary seats 650 people, provides more classrooms and foyer space. Pastor Harry Strachan believes this new project will allow the church to enhance their children's ministries. "It's a situation where we outgrew our present facilities," Strachan said. "We saw continued growth numerically, as well as different ministries we've begun." Several local dignitaries attended the grand opening service as well as special guest preacher, Dr. Clarence Sexton, the president of Crown College in Powell, Tennessee. Ashland-based company, Simonson Construction, built the 20,000 square foot addition with help from several local subcontractors. |
