Some of the kennels at the ten-year-old Richland County Dog Pound on Home Road are deteriorating the must be re-built. Dog Warden Dave Jordan says the frames are made of aluminum, and the fiberglass walls are coming loose. He plans to replace them with brick walls that will last as long as the building. Jordan says this is a health and safety issue for the large and medium-sized dogs in the kennels, because there have been times when a dog has chewed through the wall and gotten into the adjacent kennel. Thirty-two kennels will be re-built. The project will take two years and cost $32,000. The money will come from the dog warden's kennel fund. |
