A Lexington Junior High School student has been charged with menacing and aggravated menacing after the 14-year-old boy allegedly made threats to bring a firearm to school. The incident took place on Tuesday, when a parent of another student called the Lexington Police Department to report the incident. In a statement made by the Lexington Police, the threat came after a confrontation at school, involving the suspect. Officers contacted the boy and his guardian at their residence. According to the statement, the boy denied making any threats involving a firearm and there were no firearms found at the residence. On Wednesday, prior to the school day, the suspect was again contacted to ensure he had no weapons in his possession. After several interviews with witnesses, charges for menacing and aggravated menacing were filed with Richland County Juvenile Court. |
