Mansfield native Charles Williams Jr., or "Chawa," has released a new CD titled "Tha Real Me."

Chawa, an inspirational rapper, said he started rapping eight years ago and this CD is his first solo project.

"My style of music is positive for the youth. I talk about God and everyday life struggles we all experience," Chawa said.

"I feel violent rap music is hurting our community and I don't perform that type of music. I'm breaking barriers with my music by encouraging youths to look up to positive role models and stay in school," Chawa said.

"Tha Real Me," produced by BL Beats, Will Franklin, Antoine Franklin and Wendell Gibbs Jr., of Hit Tracks Productions, features 10 powerful songs written by Chawa.

Chawa will be performing live in concert, Saturday, March 9, at 6 p.m., at New Community Temple at 338 Harker St. in Mansfield
