The Whippets were a different team in the second half as they downed the visiting Rams, 73-65. But, don't let the records fool you. Madison came out smokin' behind the hot hand of Molea Thompson who scored from inside and out, tallying 13 first half points. At halftime, the 7 and 14 Rams found themselves up by eight, 35-27. The Whippets got down to business in the final half. It was senior night and the final girl's game in Joe Yohn Gymnasium, enough motivation for Devon Murray and Emma Hostetler. Shelby opend the 3rd quarter outscoring the Rams 9 to 2. At 4:35, Hostetler "shoved" an assist to Murray who completed the 3 point play to give Shelby a 41-38 lead. At quarter's end, the Whippets clung to a two point margin, a lead they would not relinquish. Murray defended Molea Thompson, holding her to four points in the second half. She would eventually foul out, but not before putting up 20 points. Hostetler had a typical night, scoring 33 points including a perfect 12 of 12 from the line in the final period. Molea Thompson finished with 17 points, Mekaila Grose led the Rams with 19, and Fantasia Hood postd 15 points. Shelby's final season game is Saturday against Willard. Their record stands at 18-3.
