Mansfield City Council is considering the first updated personnel ordinance in several years to reflect a past reduction of more than 70 jobs.

Human Resources Director Dave Remy says the staffing plan is based on the city being in fiscal emergency since 2008 and laying-off employees.

The proposal does not call for additional staffing cuts.

In fact, it does allow for some new hiring, with council approval, if a city department's budget can cover it.

Mansfield City Council has given the personnel ordinance its first reading, and plans to vote on it March 19th.
