A 7-point-1 mill emergency levy for the Shelby City Schools will be withdrawn from the May 7 ballot.

The Shelby City Schools Board of Education approved a resolution to withdraw levy at their regular meeting Thursday night.

Supt. Tim Tarvin said on Jan. 30 the board approved a measure to place the levy on the May 7 ballot. Tarvin said on Feb. 6 the board found out the district could receive between $750,000 to $1.2 million through Gov. John Kasich's funding proposal which in turn would make the millage for the levy inaccurate.

Tarvin said the General Assembly still has to approve the governor's proposal.

The levy would have generated $1.4 million annually.
