A cancelled contract is forcing a Shelby business that employs 64 people to close. CBS Transportation, which also has an office in Cleveland employing sixty-one, had its contract with CSX Railroad terminated. CSX is instead contracting with Rail Crew Express in Kansas. Both CBS offices go out of business after next Thursday. Shelby office manager Santana Stamper expects 10 to 15 of the 61 drivers to get jobs with the Kansas company. CBS has had a contract with CSX for twelve years, transporting railroad workers to their job sites. The trips cover all of Ohio, and a large area of the east and midwest including Buffalo and Chicago. CBS Transportation is owned by the 15-year-old son of its founder, and controlled by the boy's attorney and guardian. Stamper says the company plans to sue CSX over the cancellation its contract. |
