We could see some relief from skyrocketing gas prices soon.

The publisher of the Lundberg Survey says the reasons behind the spike are gone.

Right now, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.80.

That's up nearly 54 cents over nine weeks.

Trilby Lundberg says crude oil prices are now going down, and wholesale prices are also starting to tumble.

She says that doesn't mean prices couldn't get higher, but has hope they will fall.

The current average is about a dime over the average last year at this time.

The Lundberg Survey checks prices at thousands of gas stations across the country.
