A SKYWARN storm spotter class will be offered at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at the Ashland County Sheriff's Office Annex at 1205 East Main Street in Ashland.

The Cleveland office of the National Weather Service provides free training in storm spotting techniques to members of police and fire departments, emergency management officials, amateur radio operators and citizens.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Gary Garnett will conduct the class.

The goal of the training is to provide some understanding of storm structure to better prepare spotters to look out for and report extreme and unusual meteorological circumstances.

The training is free and open to the public with no advance registration required.
